ESC 20 Technical Staff may
perform the following design and implementation tasks:
- Configure and maintain the district's
perimeter firewall
- Configure and maintain the district's
edge router or switch by adding IOS security features such as access
control lists and Network Based Application Program (if supported by
the hardware) for packet inspection
- Enable Intrusion Detection System (IDS)
feature set on PIX firewalls if supported by the PIX operating system
- Inspect district servers and assist district
staff in automating server critical updates and patches
- Recommend best practices for managing
user accounts
- Consult with district staff on configuring,
deploying, and regularly updating virus protection
- Consult with district staff in deploying
content filtering to meet Child Internet Protection Act (CIPA) guidelines
- Review district security policy
- Apply video conference equipment security
patches
- Make recommendations for bakcup systems
to ensure compliance with industry standards
- Recommend placement of content filtering
services for optimal effectiveness and performance
