| Elements of a Network Security
Assessment |
| The assessment process includes a scan
of all network equipment for security vulnerabilities. |
| All new members to the Network Security
Service will receive a complete analysis of the following: |
- Network servers, routers, and switches
will be assessed for vulnerability
- Servers will be inspected for the latest
service packs and patches
- Network topology including IP addresses
and network devices will be diagrammed using network discovery tools
- A base line security analysis will be
performed and a report provided
- User accounts will be analyzed and a
report given of administrative, active, and inactive accounts
- Network performance measuring will take
place using packet capture and traffic pattern analysis
- Physical security of all network wiring
closets and communication centers will be documented
- Detailed photographs of each closet,
video conference room and network hub will be taken
- Placement and performance of content
filtering services will be examined
- Video conferencing equipment will be
examined for vulnerabilities
- Backup systems will be assessed for security
and performance
- Wireless Security Assessment is available
separately for an additional fee of $4000

Returning and new members
will receive the following services: |
- Update network security vulnerabilities
assessment information to include any added network security measures,
security devices, and network servers
- Upon district request: Full and/or Wireless
Security Assessment at an additional $4000 fee
- Ongoing support of port management on
PIX firewalls and access lists on routers
- Ongoing access to ESC 20 security web
and ftp sites for the latest information and patches
- Historical trend analysis of security
issues
- Root cause analysis of issues related
to PIX or edge routers
