As a result of the 81st Texas legislative session, a portion on the student technology allotment will continue to fund the K-12 databases program throughout the 2010-2011 school year. This program is provided through a partnership between the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC), the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and Education Service Center, Region 20 (ESC-20). Initial funding was established during the 2009 session, through Rider 78 which was added to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) budget and directs the Commissioner of Education to transfer amounts not to exceed $2.5 million in each year of the next biennium to TSLAC for the purpose of acquiring online research and information resources for libraries in public schools, and for administrative expenses. TEA, TSLAC and Education Service Center, Region 20 are collaborating in the implementation of this program.
